Jonah in the Whale Clothespins

Materials Needed:

• Paper

• Clothespins

• Crayons/Markers/Colored Pencils

• Scissors

• Glue

What I Did:

First I drew out the parts on paper that the students would color and then cut out. Then I pasted them onto the clothespin as shown above. Make sure to be careful and meticulous so that you will be able to see Jonah pop out when you open the clothespin! (Glue him on the bottom part of the clothespin on the back).

If you use construction paper, you won't need to color. 

Popsicle Stick Flowers

Materials Needed:

• Popsicles 

• Markers or crayons 

• Glue 

• Paper

What I Did:

I colored all of my popsicles sticks with what color I wanted my flower. Then I glued the Popsicle sticks down to form a flower. Next, I wrote down the verse (Isaiah 40:8 NIV). Then I instructed the students to use their imagination and create a picture around it. 

Toilet Paper Roll Octopuses

Materials Needed: 

• Toilet paper rolls 

• Paint, markers, or crayons 

• Sequins or anything used to decorate 

• Scissors 

What I Did:

I first drew the eyes and mouth on the toilet paper roll. Then I colored the rest of the octopus one color. Then I cut the tentacles. Next, I glued the sequins onto the tentacles for fun! 

Prayer Hands

Materials needed:

• Markers and/or crayons 

• Construction paper 

• Scissors 

Why I did:

Draw their hand with a pencil or crayo o a piece of construction paper. Next, go over and write down the order in which the prayer should go IN DIFFERENT COLORS ON EACH FINGER. Do not forget the closing in the palm. 

Cut out the hand. Then flip the hand over and construct a sample prayer following the guidelines on the front of the hand and utilizing the different colors correspondingly in the prayer. 

Goldfish/ Fruit Loops Collage

Materials Needed: 

• Goldfish crackers 

• Fruit loops, Apple Jacks, or Cheerios (any circular cereal)

• glue

• construction paper 

• Markers or crayons or colored pencils 

What I Did:

I personally drew the fish bowl and the verse on the paper. Then I had the students glue the Apple Jacks onto the bottom of the paper. I informed them that they shouldn't glue Apple Jacks all over the bowl, but at the bottom of it because that's how normal fish bowls are. And then they glued the 4 goldfish to the paper. 

Don't forget to write names on the papers! And I also bought some extra snack size bags of goldfish for a fun snack after! 

People I'm Praying For Hands

Materials Needed: 

• construction paper 

• markers/pencils/writing utensils

• scissors 

What I Did: 

I had the students trace their hands on the colored construction paper. I had provided the white paper with the "People I'm Praying For" written on it beforehand. Then the student cut out their hands and glued them together, pinkies facing each other. Then they glued the white paper with writing on top of the hands that were glued together. 

Finally, they wrote ten people they can pray for on each individual finger. 

Pom Pom Christmas Trees

Materials needed: 

• Glue 

• Pom poms 

• Brown construction paper 

• Large popsicle sticks 

What I Did: 

First I glued the tree trunk to the underside of one of the large popsicle sticks. Then I glued the sticks into a triangle. Then put dots alongside the popsicle sticks and put a pom pom for every dot of glue.
